I loved the Decco Cafe.   Located in the Houston Decorative Center, Decco Cafe is funky and both modern and contemporary in design.  Clean lines and pops of color.  Lots of shapes, yet full of clean lines.  While modern in design, it was a little retro in feel, like a fresh take on an old diner…Retro meets the Modern Future.  I liked it.

Upon sitting, we were served cute little yummy cheese biscuits with apple jelly.  A Happy Start!  The menu had a full on great list of options — from tuna tartare to sandwiches to salads to Chilaquiles to Beef Tenderloin (they also serve breakfast).   I ordered the Slow Roasted Pork Club with avocado, tomato, onion, and onion chipotle mayo ($10.00).  Delicious!  The pork was served on ciabatta bread.  The bread was soft and warm.  The pork was tender with a great fresh, pork flavor coming through the meat.  The avocado was a nice addition, and a nice contrast — creamy softness with warm pork.  The chipotle mayo was fabulous…and spicy!

My dining companion ordered the Lemon Tarragon Chicken Salad Sandwich ($10.00).  The chicken salad was a savory lemony gooey-ness.  Creamy and delicious.  A strong lemon essence, but not over the top.  Powerful, but not dominating.  The chicken salad was served on a fresh and soft french baguette.  Very satisfying and very tasty sandwich.

While our order was promptly taken, our food did take a while to arrive at our table.  But that is my only complaint.  We really enjoyed Decco Cafe.   Having lunch there was a nice change of pace.  I do look forward to going back!
