Thanksgiving is a few short weeks away. Many of us are planning our menus and making grocery lists in preparation for a feast, but there are just as many others who have no idea how a Thanksgiving meal will be possible this year.

Start the season of giving by helping others who aren't able to afford the basics for a Thanksgiving meal. You can help the hungry in a lot of ways, one being by donating non-perishable foods. Donating perishable and non perishable items can make a big difference for a family to be able to prepare a home-cooked meal for the holidays.

While there are no shortage of organizations or places to donate, you may want to add two Houston-area Chick-fil-A restaurants to the list, at least for this week. Chick-fil-A at Westheimer and Fondren and Chick-fil-A at Westheimer and Kirkwood are hosting a week-long food drive that will last through Saturday, November 12. Donate any number of non-perishable foods and receive a small milkshake of your choice.

Receiving a free hand-spun milkshake from Chick-fil-A is always a treat, but the bigger reward is knowing your donations will go towards families who will be very appreciative for your kindness. Foods collected will benefit the West Houston Assistance Ministries, a non-profit organization that helps children, families, and homeless individuals in crisis.
