Could you imagine living in the era when it was illegal to sell or consume alcohol? Would you want to? Many of us wouldn't want to imagine a world of Coke without the Jack Daniels or a Tequila Sunrise without the tequila, but Americans were once prohibited from it for over a decade.

Fortunately this isn't 1933 and we can enjoy a cocktail, aged scotch, or an iced cold beer at anytime and legally, thanks to the repeal of prohibition.

December 5 is known as Repeal Day, the day of the 18th Amendment was repealed. In honor of the anniversary of that glorious day, bars across the U.S. celebrate. A handful of bars in Houston are celebrating with drink specials that won't put a hurting to your pocketbook.

Party like it's 1933 with Royal Oak Bar & Grill. The Montrose bar is commemorating the Prohibition ban being lifted with an all day and night special on select drinks. Any Bulleit Bourbon and Rye cocktails are just $4.

From 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., West Ave's Saint Genevieve will pay homage to the end of Prohibition with what else... whiskey, bourbon, and more. Donate $10 and take part in a port wine, whiskey, and bourbon tasting while listening to live music from the band, Good Luck Trio. Old Fashioned and Mint Juleps will be among the few cocktails featured during the evening. All proceeds collected will support the Lupus Foundation of Houston.
