Ooh La La – The Dessert Boutique — just opened in Town & Country this past week.    I’ve been super excited anticipating their arrival.  I’ve been a fan of their other two locations which are housed in Katy.  I’m thrilled this tasty dessert storefront is now down the street from me in Houston!  And, super cute it is!  Take a look!

Ooh La La – the dessert boutique

The place is girlie, but not overly so, and not fussy or cheesy.  Exposed brick, slick floors, white washed PINK cabinets and trim, including the door.  Cute touches, but not cutesy.  Lots of windows with natural light and a big open floor plan which makes the space breathable and expansive.  It’s a nice place to relax with friends while digging into some delicious desserts.

Like their other locations, Ooh La La, offers a wide variety of sweets starting with cakes, cookies, and cupcakes, but offering so much more including pies, cheesecakes, banana puddings, eclairs, fruit tarts, cannolis, truffles, and Cap’n Crunch bars to name just a few (including gluten free items).  We tried a few cupcakes today, because, really, one can’t go wrong.  Below you will see the Birthday Cake Cupcake ($3.25).   Too cute in looks. Chocolate icing on white cake.   Moist cake.  Creamy frosting.

Next we sampled both the Tuxedo and the Cookies and Cream Cupcakes (both $3.25).   The cupcakes were almost identical twins:  white icing, but Tuxedo sported chocolate cake and Cookies and Cream delivered a cake with cookies in the batter.  Both were good.  Moist cakes.  Chocolate cake not overly sweet, contrasting nicely with the sweet frosting.

Finally, we gave the White Chocolate Bread Pudding a whirl.  Thick and substantial, the bread pudding lived up to the expectations of a warm, hearty dessert, but it did not meet my criteria for best bread pudding ever.   It was a little too gummy and lacked a wow factor flavor.  However, there are so many treats to try.   I look forward to going back for another taste of something sweet and happy.
