It's another roundup of wine and libation tastings on the cheap. Whether it's trying a new wine, learning about the origins and process of a favorite whiskey, it can be done for less than $20 or for free. Listed below are places in the Greater Houston area that offer weekly tastings including special tastings for this week. Salud!









Tuesday, August 30:



Vinoteca Quattro (1300 Lamar): Four Seasons Hotel's Vinoteca Quattro hosts a weekly tasting from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tasting features flights of four wines from regions of Italy and France. Wines are paired with cheeses. Tasting fee is $16.
Mezzanotte Ristorante (13215 Grant Road): Weekly mini wine tasting featuring four wines, each paired with tapas. Tasting is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for $17.
Block 7 Wine Company (720 Shepherd): Free weekly informal tasting featuring select wines; 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Vino Bello Wine Bar (11702 Grant Road; Cypress): Complimentary wine tasting beginning at 6 p.m.



Go beyond tasting and attend a class for an in-depth learning experience without shelling out a lot of money. Reserve 101 is offering a rum class Tuesday and it's free.





Wednesday, August 31:


The Urban Vine (13215 Grant Road, Cypress):Weekly wine tasting for $8 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Magnolia Hotel (1100 Texas Avenue): Join the Downtown Houston hotel for a wine tasting. Taste up to five wines paired with appetizers for $12. The wine tasting is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.




Go beyond tasting and attend a beer and cheese pairing and tasting. Taste various Texas cheeses from Houston Dairymaids and beers from local brewery, Saint Arnold Brewing Company.


Thursday, September 1:

Bacchus At The Elysium (2505 Dunlavy):French wine tasting from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Tasting fee is $10.



Friday, September 2:

Houston Wine Merchant (2646 S. Shepherd): Free weekly wine tasting held in an open house format from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Top Shelf Wine & Spirits (16535 Lexington Boulevard; Sugar Land): Free weekly tasting of wines and/or spirits from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.
Amerigo Grille (25250 Grogans Park Drive): Free weekly tasting in the lounge from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tastings differs each week and can range from scotch to wines.


Saturday, August 3:

French Country Wines (2433 Bartlett): Complimentary wine tasting from noon to 6 p.m.
Top Shelf Wine & Spirits (16535 Lexington Boulevard; Sugar Land): free weekly tasting of wines and/or spirits from 2 p.m. - 7 p.m.
Houston Wine Merchant (2646 South Shepherd): Free weekly tastings from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m..
Woodlands Wine Co. (6700 Woodlands Parkway, The Woodlands): Wine tasting featuring select wines for $5.
Sonoma Retail Wine Bar & Restaurant (2720 Richmond Avenue) Daily wine tasting for $5; 3 p.m. - 7 p.m.
Vine Wine Room (12420 Memorial Drive): Wine tasting featuring Vintage Select wines. Tasting fee is $8. Tasting begins at 3 p.m.
WineStyles The Vintage (10300 Louetta): Weekly wine tasting from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tasting fee is $5.
The Cellar Door (829 South Mason): Informal daily wine tastings. Three featured wines for $3; noon - 6 p.m.
