It is, objectively, the perfect weather for enjoying a duck hot dog, a Cheech burger and a Bombshell Blonde (or five) at the East End's Moon Tower Inn. So on Wednesday when the gourmet dive announced on its Facebook fan page that it would be closing for three months for upgrades and renovations, fans were a bit shocked.

The response on Facebook? "[W]e never do anything that makes much since [sic] and it always works for us."

Moon Tower's Alex Garcia tells CultureMap there is actually a logical explanation — the closure is set to correspond with the launch of the Moon Tower Meat Wagon, a food truck that will be on the road in the next week or two. Garcia says the Meat Wagon's locations are still being scouted (by bike, natch) but Midtown is a possibility.

Moon Tower posted that the plans for the current building are to "knock her over and rebuild," but Garcia says the scope of the renovations is still up in the air. One things that's for certain: The kitchen will be greatly expanded with the addition of two retrofitted shipping containers, allowing for more cold storage and potentially more items on the menu. The Facebook announcement also promises a new bar with more beer taps.
