Halloween is just a few days away. Little ghosts and goblins will take to the streets, searching for sweet and gooey goodies to fill their decorated coffers, but there's more unexpected treats in store.

In addition to going trick-or-treating from house to house on a sugar-filled scavenger hunt, many area restaurants and eateries are offering treats for kids without any tricks.

Envious? You shouldn't be.

You may be way past your prime to dress up and go trick-or-treating on your own on a day devoted to candy, but you can still put that costume towards another use. On this free-candy holiday, otherwise known as Halloween, even big kids at heart can give thanks that their costume-wearing-selves can score treats of the food variety too.

Before stocking up on candy that will last well into 2012, find out where to eat for free in the Greater Houston area on Halloween weekend. Here's a handy cheat sheet of restaurants and other eateries with the sweetest and scariest deals.
